Well, I've decided on my holiday after far too much deliberation. I'm going to Ecuador and Peru. Should be very exciting as I've never been to any further south than Tijuana and even then didn't cross into Mexico. I plan to study Spanish in Quito for four weeks, then head to Lima for a week, Lake Titicaca (how can I resist with a name like that?)for a few days, Machu Picchu and Cuzco for a couple of weeks, then head back to Quito for a week of study before going on a jungle/Spanish class tour for a week.
I'm quite looking forward to it, though am wondering how the high altitude will affect a chain smoker such as myself. I've been cutting back to 4 - 5 ciggies a day so we'll see how it goes. I'm also not too sure about the weather. Cuzco gets down to zero at night during July. I haven't experienced weather that cold in about 11 years. To me, 15 degrees is cold.
Any suggestions about the trip would be most welcome.
