I read this story on The Malcontent - College Pulls Controversial Muslim Art Exhibit. While I can see why some might see it as censorship and over the top PCing, I can empathize with the university's decision. The uncovering of a Muslim woman is a great offense, like someone posting around naked pics of your mum. If, indeed, the artist did misrepresent the content of his artwork, the university had every right to withdraw the exhibit. Might I suggest that the university take more precautions (take a look at what's going up? for instance) before further exhibitions.
Andrew Stimpson was found to be HIV-positive in 2002, but now found to be HIV-negative. Does his body hold a key to a cure? I seem to remember other cases like this during the late 90's, but couldn't find anything to back up my memories, perhaps it was all a dream?
Bush gets a record-low approval rating of 37 percent in the latest Gallup poll. Not only that, but when compared to Clinton, 48% - 36% say they believe Bush less. See The Plank for more.
Hard to believe that people no longer trust Bush after his blatant lies (or his own blind belief in faulty intelligence) that led us into the quagmire of Iraq. So, if Americans don't believe Bush, it follows that the rest of the world might have reason to doubt him, too. Just what seems to be occurring. As Andrew Sullivan writes:
One consequence of the WMD intelligence fiasco in Iraq is that no one in the international community gives the U.S. the benefit of the doubt any more on intelligence. We may have come across the mother-lode of computer evidence of Iran's nuke program. But why should anyone believe us now? They keep suspecting it's faked.
And now for the really big news: Michael Jackson's father says that the gloved one may never return to live in the States again. "They didn't treat him right here. I know if I was him, I wouldn't come back."
