Where else but Dubai...

Construction is currently underway on the world's largest underwater penis hotel.  The hotel will feature bubble shaped rooms and ballrooms, and host a plastic surgery clinic and a marine biology station.  Not a bad idea, really, as soon we might all need to start living underwater.  The hotel is expected to open sometime at the end of 2007.  Doubtful that I'll be able to stay there as I'm sure it will be prohibitively expensive.

Al Jazeera

I quite like reading Al Jazeera News because it offers a different perspective than the American and British media (which dominates even here in the UAE).  But the political cartoons are downright bizarre.  This one has the song "whose child is this?" as background music, while most of them feature some kind of ragtime.  You be the judge. 

God is Scary

No, you perverts, they're not heading to Babylon.  They're on their way to the Masonic Lodge, apparently just as decadent. 

I used to always read these tracts when I was a God-fearin' yungster.  Now, I know where they're coming from.  BTW, it's the same company that's printing the NRA's new graphic novel Freedom in Peril.  It just gets better and better.

NRA Graphic Novel Revealed

The Wonkette uncovers yet another way to perpetuate the culture of fear so prevelant in America.  The NRA's new graphic novel with villians as dastardly as the hippie chick, the illegal alien gangs, and, of course, Michael Moore. 

Speaking of the "culture of fear", here's an interesting article on the "clash of emotions" between the West and the Muslim world.  A new paradigm?  It's the third such opinion I've come across in as many days. 

More Warnings

Not to be outdone, Singapore has their own pictures on all packs of cigarettes.

More prohibitive than the pictures, though, is the price.  At over 6 USD a pack, they're even more expensive than in the States.  Sure wish I'd bought a few extra packs in Malaysia.

Face recognition

Found a fun program a few days ago, though I can't really vouch for it's accuracy.  It's photo recognition software that will compare your face with thousands of celebrities and find the people you most resemble.  Somehow I manage to look like all of these people.  Jean Seaberg?  I look like Jean Seaberg?
